Ads on Google Homepage – How To Remove Them

Seen ads on Google Homepage? Two days ago, I woke up to find ads flashing on Google’s homepage and at first I was like what is going on here. Since I have three of the commonly used browsers (Chrome, Firefox and IE10), I looked through them and Firefox had the same ads. As of today however, Chrome is the only one still having the ads displayed with some text below the ad stating that the ads are not served by (this) Google.

Steps To Remove Annoying Ads on Google Homepage

1) Step one – Download AdwCleaner

To remove these annoying ads from Google homepage, you can use a free software called AdwCleaner. Download AdwCleaner – Free Software from CNET

2) Before starting the AdwCleaner software:

Close all open programs and browsers. Now double-click the adwCleaner icon to run it.

3) After the AdwCleaner runs, You will see this Window open. Please click the Search Button.

After you click Search, this program will start looking for adware files that maybe installed on your computer – likely cause of the ads showing on Google homepage. This program will clean all that up for you.

When done searching, it will then display a notepad screen that contains a log file of all the adware extensions, files, and registry keys that have been detected. Unless you see a program name that you know should not be removed, please close the Notepad window and continue with the next step.

4) To remove the malicious files that were found in the previous step, click the Delete button as shown below:

Clicking the Delete button will make AdwCleaner prompt you to close all open files or data as the program will need to reboot (restart) your computer. Please save and close all open files and click OK.

5) Finally,

AdwCleaner will now delete all detected adware from your computer. When it is done it will display an alert that explains what PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) and Adware are. Please read through this information and then press the OK button. You will now be presented with an alert that states AdwCleaner needs to reboot your computer.

Please click on the OK button to let AdwCleaner reboot your computer.

Thanks for stopping by Perry. For some reason, I had this problem and did some things: re-installed the browsers, used adblock plugin and finally the ads disappeared from Google’s homepage.
