Performance Guide For Star Citizen

Are you looking to boost your frame rate in Star Citizen? As this is a somewhat tough game, you may choose to attempt some of the following stages.

With V-Sync off, Star Citizen performs better.

After an upgrade, you can also resolve issues by deleting the shader folder located in the USER folder. To do so, navigate to the INSTALL FOLDER StarCitizenLIVEUSER folder and delete the “shaders” folder.

Turning the “Chromatic Aberration” slider to 0 in the options may also improve performance while removing a minor part of graphics.

While Star Citizen will always run best on high-end hardware, prerequisites and overall performance are subject to change due to regular updates and the fact that it has not been officially published.

Star Citizen will run on 64-bit Windows systems (Windows 7 service pack 1 (64-bit) or higher).

Disable Nvidia Streaming Service – Increase FPS by 2% to 5%

According to several Reddit users, the recent Nvidia Drivers update produced a minor performance issue, resulting in increased CPU utilization by the streaming service. Attempts are made for streaming the game to the Nvidia shield via the service. If you have an Nvidia shield, leave it enabled; if you disable it, you will get additional frames per second in games.

How To Turn Off Nvidia’s Streaming Service

  • Launch the Task Manager
  • You must select the services tab.
  • Select the Nvidia Streamer service from the list.
  • Select the properties
  • Disabling at startup

This will assist PC gamers running core I3 or FX 6300 CPUs or lower; the performance boost will be less noticeable on higher-end processors.

This may be activated again when you update your Nvidia drivers, in which case you will need to disable the service once more following the driver update.
